Network of Women in Security (NZNWS) Code of Conduct
What is the purpose of the Code of Conduct?
The NZNWS is committed to supporting a welcoming and safe space for all stakeholders who are involved with the NZNWS. This includes Co-founders, Leaders, Members, Participants, Ambassadors, Attendees, Participants or Guests.

- Volunteers – NZNWS Volunteers
- Participants – NZNWS participants or guest
- Attendees – NZNWS members, guests or anyone who attends, participates, organises or is involved in any activities with NZNWS
The NZNWS commitment is to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi as an organisation operating in Aotearoa, New Zealand. The NZNWS work as an organisation to fulfil our commitment, responsibilities and obligations to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

NZNWS has identified that this value within this association is about working together to create an association that improves the advancement of women in security.
Guardianship, leadership, Reciprocity (giving back) NZNWS has identified that this value within this association is about sharing the kaitiaki leadership role. This is about being a guardian, caregiver and protector of all women and allies in this association.
Safe space, quality space, safety
NZNWS has identified that this value within this association is about creating and maintaining quality space to ensure and promote the pursuit of best practices in this kaupapa.
Who is our Code of Conduct for?
- This code of conduct is for all NZNWS Leaders, Members, Participants, Ambassadors, Volunteers, Event Participants and anyone involved with the NZNWS. Should you have any questions or concerns, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Why do we need a Code of Conduct?
- The NZNWS is comprised of members from diverse backgrounds, organisations, and lived experiences. The NZNWS is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone engaging with the NZNWS online, at events or otherwise, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, political affiliation, nationality, language, or religion.
What is the NZNWS protocol for conflict resolution?
Anyone can report if you believe someone is breaching NZNWS protocol. Please follow the steps below:
Please report immediately to contact a local event organiser (at an event) or NZNWS representative if you are being disrespected, feel unsafe or being harassed, or if you notice that someone else is being harassed.
2. Escalate Please escalate and report to the NZNWS by email or informing one of our NZNWS representatives.
When escalating the issue, please provide as much detail as possible. Please include the following:
- Your name
- Phone, Mobile
- The date the event occurred.
- The time the event occurred.
- Where it occurred.
- Do you know the person who was involved?
- If this was a member of the NZNWS please state their details.
- Were there any witnesses? If so, please state their details.
- What is the outcome you are expecting?

The NZNWS will require anyone engaging in harassing behaviour to cease immediately as that is a breach of what the organisation represents. The NZNWS are committed to ensuring that you and other attendees experience a positive, enjoyable and inclusive event.
We strive for being respectful, caring and understanding when people are reporting unacceptable behaviour. We will acknowledge your report and reply by email (if you have made an email).
If an incident results in corrective action, the NZNWS will do its best to support those harmed by the incident, both publicly (where appropriate) and privately.
The NZNWS are very open to revising any parts of the NZNWS policy or protocol if needed. This is to ensure we are providing a safe and welcoming community in which harassment is not tolerated.
